Talita wraps her arms around her friends, rests a cheek on top of Idrisah's head, and relaxes into the hug. Bip turns their webcam towards the the front loader, holding up its newly attached articulated hands. They reach out with them and gingerly grasp the group of women with the metal manipulators, who look down in surprise.
Bip: Best I can do, sorry.

I really enjoy the subtle ways in which Bip’s connection to “centaurity” is woven into this media. The structure of the frontloader’s joints here has little reason to mirror centaurs so thoroughly – and yet it does. Talita doesn’t NEED a connection to centaurity – she has always been much closer to humanity, with all the benefits and baggage, and it’s probably best for her to stay that way – but I think Bip is in a very important place right between insider and outsider that will be helpful for showing Talita the things she may have missed without othering her for not being naturalised to “centaur society” (varied as it is clan-to-clan).

OK. It looks like it’s an actual lathe that has been stylistically flattened for the background. But, still. We need something like that as a poster.
Though, for us, it would be more fitting to do an old school printing press or paper cutter, and we can do that for ourselves.

See this is such a great way of demonstrating the difference between Talita’s work-friendship with Cal and Talita’s actual friendship with Bip. Not that there’s anything wrong with Cal, but this scene demonstrates an emotional intimacy that’s fantastic.
