Talita's face gets fluffy when she's flustered.

Talita: I’m gonna recharge them at my place. If their CPUs weren’t fried by engine radiation, I should be able to ID them.Mel: Thanks, Tal.
Mel: So... how was the temp crew?
Talita: Well! Nothing more field experience can’t fix!
Mel: You can always come to me if there are… issues. I know people sometimes make weird presumptions about centaurs.
Talita: It’s fine! Really!
She waves a hand in frantic dismissal, the feathers on her face prickling in embarrassment.
Talita: You know you’re my manager now and not my legal guardian, right?
Mel: It’s my concern either way!
Talita: Anyways! Do you know if Calcery’s packed up yet?

I went back here because of a comment on the most recent page, I found it interesting how Mel said that the phones are worth a ton of money, while Talita wants to figure out the original owners. Another subtle way we become aware of Mel’s character beneath their friendly veneer.

I love the way Talita uses her nictitating membranes to produce human expressions. I bet that was a learning curve while growing up

While I understand that as a manager, they can’t overstep with Talita despite previously being her guardian. But like, awwww, they obviously care for her a great deal.

I love Talita’s face getting fluffy as like a centaur version of a blush. Your command of expressions is so impressive, especially when dealing with the complex layering of a nonhuman who has been socialized with humans.

Thanks! Centaur “blushing” was a very cartoony workaround for an emotional queue that’s both instantly recognizable to human readers and suitably non-human, since both blushing and bristling are represented by line hatching.

Also I love the design of Talita’s clothes. They look super comfy

I love all the cute expressions and they both look so soft!!

I love seeing how differently Talita’s arms bend. Sometimes I forget they have one more joint.
I also love her centaur cargo pants, from what ive read before she’d had to make most of her clothing herself

What kinds of assumptions do people make about centaurs? Also, the way you draw mustaches is delightful.
Jay Eaton
It will be touched on in greater detail later, but centaurs are large carnivores who come from a planet that had “primitive” technology when first encountered. You might be able to fill in the gaps from that. Also thanks I think facial hair is fun to draw lol

Ah. They parse to humans with a human understanding of history as 3-meter-tall version of warriors and bandits and stuff like that from a less-enlightened age and culturally stylized as extra-scary, and on top of that have roughly the dietary habits of big cats if big cats could make tea from bones. Yeah, for all I try to be tolerant and understanding (I am myself an immigrant, it is only fair to extend the same courtesy to others that my host nation extends to me), I probably would be nervous too if I heard about this planet hyped-up as “Wild West but it’s basically giant tigers” and then met one such alien.

aaw Talita is certifiably adorable
but yes a good manager should help deal with interpersonal issues between workers
