  1. “Are you copying me?” Lmao Gillie be nice 😂

  2. The Opossum Witch

    the TEEFIES!! the TEEFS!!!

  3. big fan of Pleasant Gillie, Inquisitive Gillie, and “????” Gille

  4. I can’t tell of Talita’s eyes are like that because it’s part of her having to change her expressions or because she’s about to shrivel into a corn cob out of embarrassment.

    1. Both?

      1. The Opossum Witch

        Both

  5. big fan of gillie’s face in the fifth panel lol X)

  6. aw talita, she’s trying her best. also i love her teeth poking out in the last panel, it’s so cute to me!

  7. Gosh Talita looks so panicked and embarrassed and I relate so hard to it 😅

  8. ‘Talita is desperately trying to outrun her own embarrassment here.’

Are we sure Talita can’t outrun embarrassment? If anyone can…

    1. It wouldn’t be embarrassment if it weren’t still able to run circles around you laughing, would it. :-3

  9. for yes/no questions: turn your skull into rubber

  10. MyUniverseinaBox

Gillie’s face in the last one, I’m loosing it

  11. Marks for trying, although I think the last one will need a rethink.
I wonder if Talita’s flushed and fluffed feathers can be put to good use?

    1. I don’t think she can do that any more than we can blush on command.

    2. Depends whether it’s something she can consciously cintrol or not. Humans can’t control a flushing response or hair raising, so I wonder if the feather erection muscles are voluntary.

  12. talita poking herself in the chest with her antler is a great detail

    1. Also the click as she smacks her hoof fingers together.

  13. I love Gillie’s bolo tie! stylish~

  14. gillie so silly

  15. Looks like a strain for her to do this

    1. That’s because she IS straining, probably 😄… Imagine the intensity you put into expressions as a classic turning knob, with a scale from 0 – 10. Talita is starting around an 11 or 12, and ends up somewhere around a 15 or more at the end 😁… Relax, girl, or you’ll explode any second 🤣!
But no, a little more seriously, she’s doing WAY more than necessary – we’ve seen her doing ‘human’ expressions by reflex many times by now, and, in general, she was doing just fine with them, at least in my book. Now she’s doing it consciously, and slamming through all the stops in the process. When she gets to the point of doing it more casually, like she’s been doing in ‘normal’ life, Talita’ll do great 👍 – but she’s quite a bit off from that, yet (more like “😬”…), until she gets to the point of being able to stop panicking and cooling it a bit (which, granted, is easier said than done in her place… 🫂…)

  16. Rad Internet Stranger

    This is beautiful

  17. Imagine you’re teenage Idrisah… You’ve befriended Gillie because you were intrigued and a really nice person, and the Deaf, off-model GMH girl from the back of the class also seemed relatable in her isolation… and then, once she gets comfortable around you, she starts pulling stuff like panel 5, and makes you laugh your ass off…

Yeah, I don’t think we need any more flashbacks explaining the Touati-Sharpes. It’s all here.

  18. Sparky Lurkdragon

This is definitely one of my favourite individual pages. Everyone loves a good exaggerated face.
Poor Talita, but she’s doing it! She’s doing the scary thing! And Gillie is a great teacher, if not a little trolly. XD Then again I think she’s earned it with this particular friend and student!

  19. We want to sit with Gillie and learn sign language from here.

    1. * her, even.

  20. Those last panels remind me of a moment in college when my friend and I were intentionally making double-chins to be silly, and then her 0% body-fat gym rat boyfriend was like “Hey how are you guys doing that?” totally oblivious…

    1. Careful, once men find out you can shape-shift, they’re going to tell the Church!

  21. Two tiny tongues :3

  22. Madame Thunderbone

I have noticed that a very focused Talita is all snaggletoothed. As someone… unnecessarily expressive, I understand the feeling though have the reassurance that it is not literal, and hope that for the sake of her anxiety, Talita never realizes that’s how she looks, poor lady would spend so much time contriving a way to hide her alien fangs.

  23. It looks like her antlers are gonna hatch soon LOL her velvet’s coming off

    1. Well, this is the moment-or-never for the scientific discovery that explosive de-velvetization is yet another sign of embarrassment in centaurs …

  24. all of these faces are amazing but the yes/no Gillie is peak

  25. Talita poofs her neck feathers as a substitute for raising eyebrows.
Do other centaurs wave their trunk instead of a head shake?

    1. Talita’s feathers are raised because she is increasingly embarrassed. She is blushing and sweating profusely, this is involuntary

also idk if centaurs normally wave with their trunks but they seem to extend them more/aren’t self-conscious about how they look around humans

    2. I believe poofing up her feathers is just Talita’s way of blushing, because she’s embarrassed right now. The eyebrow substitute is changing the shape of her eyes with the nictating membranes.

    3. “about to combust from embarrassment” –the transcript for this page

  26. I love Gillie’s face in panel 5. She’s a good teacher.

  27. We’re reaching levels of floofiness previously thought impossible

  28. I’d laugh if I didn’t have an identical experience learning ASL, myself

    1. At least you’ve presumably got the benefit of having eyebrows!
